What ram tubes for twin 40mm Solex on 2tg? Where

Hi Guys,

I am wondering, from your experience what length ram tubes worked best for you, I understand the length of them will affect the cars responsiveness and overall power.

Also what ones will fit into my ta22 (2tg with twin 40mm solex's) and where have people sources them from?

My ram tubes I use on my 2T with 44mm Mikunis are 75mm long. The motor has had a few other mods and gave 74rwkW and is very drivable.

The longer the ram tubes are the more torque you gain down low and mid range, but you tend to move it from the top end.

If you rally you look for more torque down low for drivability.

If you drag race or road race then you look for more power up high in the rev range.

I have my source and I can supply sets for 40mm Solexes. From memory (not at home yet) they are 75mm long.
They come in; natural polished alloy and blue or red anodised.

The ones in my avatar are from Mikuni and are hard to get now.

This is about as long as you can go before running out of space against the brake master cylinder.

People have made longer ones which curve around and down to fit.

I had a look at the above two links and cannot find ram tubes that would suit sidedraught carbies, maybe I did not dig far enough into the sites however.

Hybridaddy or kingmick correct me if I am wrong, please.

The ones you need are similar to what I have here, part #16-88 and are actually 62mm long ones . So my memory is bad.

I simply buy them in when I make up kits and as part of my Solex/Mikuni services.

Thanks guys i have been chasing these up and i will be able to source some tubes and socks.

I rang australian auto http://www.australianauto.com.au/ and they told me they dont do ram tubes.
