lol nah, its for some in car electornics mountings (for a live video feed in a rally car for when the company bosses come out)
if the sizes are big/short enough, why not just get them lathed??
what sizes are you after?

Thin wall tube probly wont do you much good if you want serious taper. You may to have to get it machined out of solid bar.
yeah i might just lathe something up the problem is its 50mm at the thick side, dont know if our lathes go that big (we have small lathes), so getting them done by a machineshop is the way to go?
also it needs to be tube and ID needs to be smooth and follow the taper

getting the taper on a lathe would be easy, its only a tool change to do the I.D. as well as the O.D., what length are you looking at???, and what angle for the taper???Originally Posted by merc-blue

they are about 90mm long with a drop of about 10mm so a fairly gently taper
a machinist could wip those up in a few minutes really.
i was gonna say.. 500mm chunk of steel in rally car could be dangerous
only issue is if the ID is large enough to fit a tool into it.... as long as it is, it should be no issue for machinist to whip up in a few minutes![]()
