I've got the 1.90 which I think was the first autotune model?
But I thought to use autotune you needed the autronic wideband meter/hand control thing?

I'm just borrowing a microtech wideband 02 meter from a local mechanic for the christmas break.. Then next year get my regular tuner (Hitman) to spend a few hours on the dyno doing it right.

i dont understand your logic joel ,all my motors are run in on a chassis dyno and then tuned .i think paul takes about 1hr to run in properly, then tune it every 400rpm up to 9000rpm then all the light throttle and then ign timing ,
what your doing isnt great for your motor ,if its 2 lean you will end up melting a piston maybe thats why the water temp is high and im sure your std knock sensor wont be picking any signal unless you are running a std ecu .as you have already changed the exhaust and that will change so many varibles most ly in the knock sensor

ignition timing will impact on your running temps too, can you put a "standard" 3SGTE map on it and run low boost for a while?

Howdy, the over heating problem is all sorted, it actually runs too cold now because of the 4mm hole I put in the thermostat I think. Seems to hang around 70 degrees at the moment.

Mixtures are being monitored by a wideband 02 meter, so no worry of it leaning out.

    Timing is very conservative.

Glenn, I'd just didn't know a tuner would want to spend a long time on a dyno running the engine in? Guess its not a problem though.. I'll book it in with the tuner first thing after new years.

    Cheers

Yeah, they normally have no issue with it. My tuner was more than happy to run my engine in, and did it for nix too.

3SGTE's run a thermostat with a bypass...if you just take the thermostat out, it's not the same as cars that don't run that system.

I've just gone through the same problems with the ST185 and ended up locking the thermostat open...that way, the bypass valve is closed and it's the same as having no thermostat.
