We did this on our westfield. Bolt the standard headers to the engine . Heat them till red hot with the oxy and bend them slightly away from the block. This makes room for an exhaust side starter ( though still a tight fit)
looking to find a header that will not interfere with my starter. i have no provision to put the starter on the intake side. does anyone know of any that are 3rd party or even if a rwd gts manifold will work? i am looking at this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.ca/OBX-Racing-Header...QQcmdZViewItem any ideas would be great. i have found a couple of turbo manifolds that will clear the starter but do not want to run turbo on this thing, can i get away with a turbo header and just not use a turbo?

I wound up extending all the pipes on my headers by 1" at the head flange. They cleared the starter nicely then..
the reduction type starters on the ae92 era 4age are more compact than the normal AE86 type starters, I'd have a look at putting one of those on there.

Are you sure, I've got one of them on my mr2 and it hits where the mr2 one didn't....Originally Posted by psychofox
Meh I have one on my AE86 and my headers don't hit. It all comes down to extractor design anyway.
