The head weighs around 8kg, for the 18rg, but the block must weigh over 100kg i would think, is that supposed to be 163 Mr DOHC?

A member of the Classic Celica list, living in Finland said his factory manual quoted a weight of 165kg for a complete 18R-C, and 51kg for a W50 g/box. When he weighed his 18R-C using a digital scale on his engine hoist, he only got 135kg for it. To this day I don't know why...

160kg sounds about right. a 4M is about 200kg, and it takes two people to lift(safely ) an A12 out of a 1200 coupe, at a guess they weigh about 100kg.

Ok to extend this topic a bit further, Brett and RA23, do you know how much your 1GGTE/1GGZE's weighed?

I don't know exactly but given my others mods and the fact that I weighed my car before and after the conversion, I would say my GZE is about 190kg.

The GTE is apparently around the 175kg mark, a smidge lighter than the 1UZFE.

I am surprised that the GTE is as light as that given all the 'bits' that hang off it like twin turbos etc (!). I always thought that they were in the range of 180-190kg, and the 1UZ is about 210kg...

I cant help you with the engine but i do know the a W50box weighs 40kg on its own,
w55-59 35kg. 18rc cylinder head roughly 14kg on its own.
