Turorial : how to install a gauge in z20 soarer in aircon vents

hey guys it has been asked a few tims where to put gauges in our z20s soarers and a common place is the aircon vents
this is becasue the aircon vents r exactly 2" wide and fits a 2" gauge perfect so this is how to do it

Turn your air con vent as far as u can so its sideways like this and get a screw driver or sumthin to slide through it and then pull it out. dont worry if u hear snapping noises because you dont need the inside of the aircon vent

ok now you will see the vent is in 2 halfs so get a screw driver and put it into the middle so it splits into 2 parts

now if the half with the vent doenst pop out then just get sum tin snips and cut the 3 bits so it comes out

now you have 2 halfs and you only need 1 half for mounting the gauge so you can either use half for mounting a gauge on drivers side and the other half for another on passenger side or just keep the spare half for somthing

and so there you go slide your gauge in and it should fit perfect for a 2" gauge
and just put it so fits the vent again

So can you now adjust the angle of that gauge, in the same way you could adjust the airflow? I like the idea of that, looks very cool

Just for the record, though i'm guessing most z20 owners are aware. A 2 5/8" gauge will fit quite well in the hole left when the whole airflow adjustment peice is removed intirely though depending on the actual gauge you may need to do a tiny bit of filing around the inside edges of the hole.

It's as though they had designed the vents with future rice-age in mind

I like this mod but just wondering if anyone has had any problems with pressure or condensation buildup behind the gauge.

Yer i had the gauge shoot out once orange gun style. Hit my rear passenger in the face and gave him a concussion, true story

this could also work for RA23/TA23 celicas?? i think,

+rep for writing it up and hosting pictures with only 6 hours of sleep in 3 days
i think the older people here think its an easy thing to do
