Sorry, that may have been a bit blunt, i'll walk you through my thinking. It's been shown time and again, that the Gen3 turbos are easily capable of anywhere from 150-160rwkw, decent response, all that jazz.

All of the turbos you're looking at will be lucky to get a great deal more than that figure, and a few of them at the expense of lag. That just doesn't make financial sense.

If you were going to spring for something like a KKR330, which is capable of probably 210rwkw+ on a 1G, now you're talking.

It just doesn't make sense financially or even be common sense to change turbos for such little gain. If you're doing it for the sake of it "not being standard" so it's cool, find something else that would be more power productive.

Yeah that was blunt. So what do you suggest I spend my money on since you have already decided what I should do. And yes I want to spend SFA and I am not afraid to publicly declare that. I stated my financial intentions in the first post of this topic.

I am beyond doing things just because they are cool, I do have my reasons for doing things the way I want to do them. I am simply learning and if through the trial and error I make an error then it is no drama to me. I will learn from it and move on, if doing this does not give me too much more power and a bit more lag then that is fine I am happy with that.
Financially it is not going to set me back to much to do this, as I have already stated previously my stock turbo's atm are dead! complete shit, they make 5psi boost at 5000rpm because the seals are gone. I am going to have to tear it apart anyway. So while it is apart I will take advantage of that.

When you talk about financial sense well then most people in this forum must be crazy because very few will get back anywhere near what they spend on their cars. But that is not why we do it, we do it because we enjoy it and take pride in it.
I don't want the fastest car, or the coolest car. I simply want to build a car up the way I want to.
I am doing up a Corona that does not make sense financially or even common sense as they were never a car to brag about but hey I am learning heaps and enjoying the process.

Thanks for your advice and input, if I crash and burn then I will simply try again. I have read many opinions on this topic and it seems through trial and error that a few people have gotten good results through different setups.
And if I am one of them who does not get good results then you can say "I told you so!"

I've been reading about these KKR turbos myself! They sound like they're decent value for money, that's for sure.

Read a thread from a sponsor on nissansilvia.com about the KKR330's bigger brother, the KKR430, and for only a little bit more than the KKR330 you've got the potential there for even more power...

    Hmm...

I think I might go the 330 myself soon (while the car and I are still off the road, might as well get this out of the way too perhaps, its either that or wait until my stocker twins die like this dude lol)

No idea if these figures are correct.... but the sponsor on nissansilvia.com was claiming this with the KKR430 (bold writing is excerpt from thread)

all you need is the results:

    ca18 with kkr330 17psi = 206rwkw
    ca18 with kkr430 13psi = 175rwkw and rising
    sr20 with kkr330 13 psi = 205rwkw standard inj,air flow mtr, computer

these are covered with a 6 months replacement warranty (no labour)
kkr-430 $850 + post or pick up in sydney
dump pipe $190 it suits kkr-430 and kkr-480 for rb series engines

    kkr-330 $730

Well for the money, I'd be just getting some factory turbos and bolting them on, then spending money on a boost controller or a decent IC. Turbo conversions are not good value for money unless you're planning to go for something that is going to make an improvement.

I'm sorry to be blunt. To be perfectly honest, I would spend the extra money to get a decent turbo.

Merudo, go get a 430, I'm hanging for someone to get one on a 1G to see how it goes. I can't decide between the 330 and the 430.

I have an ebc already hooked up and a good sized fmic with heaps of stainless piping, so it will not cost me 2 much extra.

Get some factory turbos and save up to do a proper turbo conversion, it'll be more than worth it

Hmm that KKK-430 turbo looks alright! And $850 is good

Probably better than a disco potato off ebay, and at least $200 cheaper.

I am the proud new owner of a KKR-480 so hopefully I can get that hooked up to the 1G in the next few weeks. It has a 12 month replacement warranty which is good because it did not end up being much more than 2nd hand vg30 turbo's I was looking at.

    Hey J,

haha well dude I was tempted but I got this for quite a cheap price, and you probably would have only given me a 6 month warranty...

im a late comer to this thread so forgive me if im a little of topic and if i repeat something, gaskets when i did my single turbo conversion i reused the origianl ones but ran permatex copper sealant round them (never leaked) all up i did a single turbo conversion for under 2k
this was also using a brand new garrett GT2871r 440hp, the turbo made 15psi @ 3200rpm i made a simple split pulse log manifold and low mounted the turbo, that cost liek 150 dollars and my time, and a water and oil line kit, where i returned the oil into the sump. Worked a treat, spooled way quicker and stronger than the original turbos. I also ran a PWR aero2 intercooler (not included int he 2k price )which i plumbed up. only thing i had to get some1 else to make was the dump pipe, read it was a pain in the arse,
