i think its going to be pretty hard to get a valve spring remover in there with the head on. because the springs are in the head (so to speak) its quiet hard to fit the correct tool onto them.

you can do the ol hit them with a hammer to get the collets to come out, but i think its a bit dodge and you can loose them.

i would have the head removed, then you can get the seals removed and possibly recon the entire head and a new headgasket.

also remember not to mix up the buckets, they are shimmed to the correct height per valve.

spewing. you really should have had the head checked and the seals done then...... i always get it done when i do heads.

i still think take the head off, but others may have different ideas. see what some others say.

    head gasket is $100.

you can do it with the head on, its harder on these engines than alot of others. you need to make/buy a fitting to feed compressed air into the cylinders, or you can put rope in there like some people do but i personally dont like that method.
then instead of using a hammer and losing your collets and having trouble getting them back on, make a big leaver with a socket to press down on the valve springs, best way probably on these heads.

You will need to be able to lever it. So make somthing that can bolt to your cam cap studs that can then lever on the valve spring. Or make or find some tube that you can bolt into your cam tunnel that you can attatch a lever to press on the springs. You will need a groove or slot cut in the side of the socket so that you can get a magnet in there to fech the collits.

yeah it can be done no prob

Like has been mentioned you will need to fill the cylinder with compressed air to hold the valves up when you remove the spring.

i do the old spark plug socket and hammer trick to get the collets out. ( it works fine but you will need to be very careful not to loose collets)

Once spring is out the you use a set of long pointy nose pliers to remove stem seal ( note this can be very tricky / hard to get em off!!!)

Once off replace seals and tap on with a socket.

Replacing the springs is the part where you will have to buy a tool to do it with. Snap on make a good one Very easy to use.

If this sounds toooooo hard pull the head off.

so you have pneumatic valve spring compressor? That will probably be useless unless you are taking the head of.

Also just a quick piece of advice when fitting valve stem seals i usually put a little bit of oil on the inside of them and on the lip where where they seal, then get a socket that fits to the size of the steel OD and push it on using an extension. I have seen quite a few people fit using a hammer and punch the rubber seal part clean off the of the seal.
