Yeh you will. I always thought the same thing, same capacity means no engineers certificate, but aparently you do have to get it engineered.
hi there
i was just wondering whether you need to get a 20 valve engineered for a AE 92 corolla SX i was under the impression that since it is the same engine capacity 1.6 that you would not need to get it engineered.
i had a 20 valve in there before but the timming belt snapped and there were to many problems with that one so i decided to buy another one and swap them over, when i went to get a engine number swap (blue slip) they said i needed to get the engine egineered for emmisions and what have you since it was a japanese import and it had the quad throttles
can someone please tell me wheter i need to get it engineered or not.

This question has been asked many many times.
The basic jist is:
- yes, it needs engineering
- contact some engineers to find out what they will require from you to certify the conversion.
- contact details are available on the RTA website
..... THREAD LOCKED. Doesnt need to go any further.
