    Gen 1 3SGE/GTE is late 1985 to early 1989

Gen 2 is late 1989 to early 1993

Gen 3 is late 1993 to early 1998

Gen 4 is late 1998 on (this is not a readily available motor here in Australia, so we'll leave the lesson there!?!)

Hmmm, which gen had the longer spark plug tubes? Because the lead dongles are too long which is the issue more than anything else, the pack says
    st162 1985-90
    mr2 st184
    1990-91

So I am assuming we got the gen2s after 91... we only got them here in the MR2's correct?

Yep. The pack you've bought is obviously a "multifit", I've had a few engines come thorugh witht he same spark plug lead scenario. Either accept it, or take them back and pay more for genuine Toyota items.
