you mean the sound deadner on the underside of the bonnet, right?
Does anyone know if any of the AE92 Corolla's came out with a underbonnet sound thingy?

My GF 89 rolla hasn't got one!
that when a wrecker comes in handyor u can always make one yourself. mate of mine picked one up for about $60 the other week
I have an AE92 which does not have any and have NEVER seen one with sound deadening.
i know that other cars such as the ST162 came with it as most of them are all ripped and look very average. The underside of my bonnet is very clean and shows no sign of adhesive to suggest that it ever had any.

I don't think they came with any. Mine does not have it. Under mine, you can see where the bonnet skin has come away from the ribbing. JP says to put sikaflex in there and put some weight on it until it goes off and that will cut a lot of noise down (if yours has separated like mine. But I was thinking to get some underbonnet stuff too. I went to Clark Rubber and they had some Silver Backed shielding that would do OK for sound deadening (but only ok up to 80 deg C) . I figure I could slip it between the skin and the ribbing and it should go a long way to reduce noise.
My magna has black stuff. Also, I think your SX should have firewall shielding. Try to pick up the same stuff as that. Then tell me where to get it and what it's called!

Yeah, they did come with it. My SX had it from factory, as did about 5 other SXs i looked at. The cheapo aftermarket bonnets certainly dont have it, so i would be looking as to whether there has been some nose damage to the car in the past.

The bonnet is in ok condition (Skin hasn't seperated from the frame) just would like to make it a little quieterI would really like a genuine item! I suppose the easist thing to do is go to my local Toyota dealer and ask them to check out there parts lists for AE92 Rolla's. If & when I find out I will post up the deatils and price.
You may need to take your Frame Number from that silver plate under your bonnet in order to get a correct part number from a Toyota Dealer.
My car is not an SX and when I ask for SX Stuff the dudes at the dealer go, well, you will need a frame number for that!

My SX doesn't have it and its got the toyota vehicle emissions stickers on the back of the bonnet, which suggests to me it was like that from factory.
Takai - Where all the AE92 you looked at hatchbacks?
Mine and finneys (if I'm thinkign of the right car) are both liftbacks. Maybe for some reason the AE92 had it and the AE93 didn't??
my 89 ae92 CS sedan didn't come with it. that stuff always looks like shit anyway![]()

I was at a wrecking yard yesterday and looked at about 6 x AE9x's. They were a range of SX, CSi, Nova SLX, Hatch and Seca. Only one had the stuff. It looked like fibreglass wool glued to the underside of the bonnet with a black coating to stop it from fluffing.

All the ones i looked at were hatches, so not sure about the liftback.
