Pretty sure it is a 17, the same as the first word...www.asciitable.com shows that as being "DC1 Device Control 1"...(it looks bracketed by 17

Why would 19 make more sense?

I'm thinking that the last word is prbly data...but not sure yet.

I've written my program (micro controller based atm) to get the data, works a treat!

I can see values change on the screen...i.e. the tps as i move the throttle!

Next I will work out what each word is relating to (rpm, tps etc) and then I will work out the resolution of each. Almost there for me I suspect!

it's not very interesting in that you can't interact with it, nor get logged events like OBDII - and most tech's only use it via the check-engine light and think of it as morse-code. But there is useful data there somewhere

That is just the OBD codes.

Toyota also has serial data avaliable....check the following doc
47 OBDII#2 - Serial Data.pdf file size 289KB

Some info is also in 46 and 48 I recall.

This is bloody cool!! Glad to see there's people on here playing with micros and all the jazz that goes with it What micro are you using?
How are you coming along with working out the meaning of each byte?
The bit stream you posted earlier - that was received at 100baud, is that right?
(Now how to find more free time...grrr)

Got my serial data coming out now and into the laptop. Just got to figure out how to do the timing now. Doesn't look too bad. I'll post some pics shortly.

BTW I just put the data straight into one of the parallel port status lines and just keep reading the register (379 bit 7 normally used by the printer to tell the PC its busy). It will run upto about 100Khz.
