Note quite sure what you are trying to do Brett. Are you wanting to convert a 1GGTE into a 1GGZE or are you talking twin-charging?
is it possible to bolt the 1ggze SC onto a 1G-GTE? has anyone ever tried it?
ive got concerns with the inlet manifold having such a large radius and there fore touching the top of the SC.
here is a R-A-G drawing of what i mean. looking front on at the 1ggte engine. the black is the 1ggte engine block and manifold (note: big radius manifold) and the green is the 1ggze manifold if you were to bolt that on (note: smaller angle) and the red peenut looking thing is the SC.
so will the 1ggte manifold and the top of the SC interfere - like in the picture?
judging by this pic, the GZE manifold goes straight up at 45degrees
thoughts/opinions/experiences appreciated![]()
hello

brett wants to twin-charge
the idea is twincharging. ive all ready got a 1ggte in the RA40 and hope to bolt on a SC from a 1GGZE.
im not asking how to twincharge, im asking if a 1ggze SC can physically fit to the 1ggte block without interfereing with the inlet manifold. i also assume the TVIS thingy under the manifold will need to be shifted.
hello
If it does interfere using the stock GZE brackets, why not simply make your own brackets to shift it down (sideways, heck what ever is needed) moreAssuming there is room in the engine bay (which I think there is?).
Suck it and see? If it doesn't fit with the stock bracket make it fit, I know you can
Cheers

hello
is the sc held on by a pivot arrangement?
ie you could keep the bottom bolt on connected to the block but pivot the top part out until there is enough space between the sc and the runners?
do you have a 1ggze sc handy?
can you just use the 1ggze inlet runners instead of the 1ggte variety?
someone was parting out a 1ggze on the old formums and might still have the runners....they had a picture of the news reader from the simpsons.
i remember reading somewhere (20 bucks says it was on bill sherwoods site) that to twin charge a 1g you have to start with the gze and bolt the turbos on.
this is probably going to be your best bet
im not asking whether i need a GZE or GTE to start off with, im asking if anyone has every physically tried to fit a GZE SC on a GTE.![]()
hello
This "GZE SC on a GTE." is unlikely - the comon experience is turbo anything with a SC attached.
Remembering how wide my GTE manifold is, i'd say you've got no chance of making it fit.
Anyway - you can weld pretty good? why not fabricate your own mounts or modify some existing mounts to suit?
the GZE manifold looks like poo though. i would prefer a GTE mani
hello
then custom mounts it is
Aye, custom mount it up. from memory it is fairly similar to the 4AGZE, which has sucky manifolds and mounts.

if you double up the custom mount, I will buy a second off you![]()
Brett,
Have you worked this out yet?
Where bouts are you in qld? I have my SC14 off atm. The 1GGZE is running as a 1GGE for now. (geeez it sucks...) I would be interested to compare intakes etc myself.
meh...
