    Default Turbo 1MZ 1994 RAV4

OK its true, a MZ will never fit a 3S RAV box. Centre diff is just too big. I tried, and ground away a dummy block trying.
    So I bought a 1MZ, 3MZ, Kluger 5 speed auto.
3MZ are stupid expensive (like $3500), so I am saving that for something special.
The 1MZ came in a Camry for $600 drive away, thats an average price.

It took a lot of grinding, recessing a main bearing side bolt 10mm and test fitting the Kluger box about 8 times to get it right.
Next step, try and fit it in the RAV! Will use 1AZ RAV drive shafts.
    Pics soon.

The 1MZ will fit the RAV4 gearbox, you will need to grind both block and transfer case.

Paul Woods from Woodsport did a conversion in 2011.

    About the Motor/Gearbox: http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/sho...l=1#post240886

There has also been an Aussie 3VZ RAV4 conversion done with similar work to make the motor/gearbox fit.

3VZ is a little different, but the gearboxes that fit them have the same clearance requirements as a 1MZ, so it should be similar.

Strange, cause Woodsport told me it couldn't be done. They said the 3VZ is no problem, but 1MZ is a no go.

Road and track also said it won't fit. Fine for 2WD, not AWD.

E50F no fit, E150F no fit, E151F no fit, E154F no fit, E250F no fit, A540H no fit.

I found that if I ground away the side lower of the 1MZ block until there was 1mm of block left, and ground down the centre diff, I could get it to fit a A540H but its near impossible to get the engine onto the box and impossible to get the sump to seal onto 1mm thick block (not to mention strength issues). Note, Manual GT4 boxes have larger centre diffs to RAV boxes, so 1mm of block wont help you there.

U151F is 3MZ Kluger (Similar to U140F in later RAV but different bell pattern and an extra gear). That is what I managed to fit. The 3MZ block is already shaved in that area and the side mount on the block is a different shape and position, also no EGR water jacket plate on 3MZ.

Close now! Engine and box are in, most of the turbo piping done. Engine runs. GT2871r with 0.63 (for offroad and towing), aiming for 5psi stock, 20 when I forge it
Will finish the turbo pipes this weekend. Mandrel 2.5in dump to muffler (good for 400+hp), 1.75in head to turbo. Rear manifold a modified stock one, custom front manifold
Waiting for custom shortened next gen RAV drivers side CV. Other option is to use next gen hubs (hard to get) and space the ball joint out with a plate (easy). That would give some camber too
Tailshaft fitted straight in, PS CV fitted straight in, front and back RAV mounts fitted straight onto the U151F.
Not much engine clearance in 3 places, but it doesnt touch anything.
Had to change to a MX5 NA radiator due to the inlet and outlet positions.
Had to put in a FPR as 1MZ is returnless.
Will make a sequential controller for the U151F like I had on the original box

Nearly forgot, For the east / west mounts, I used RAV mounts and made 10mm thick adapter plates by drilling holes in 5mm bunnings steel plates, works perfect!

RAV6 is fun! Running 5psi (XR6 wastgate actuator), still running the 4 cylinder tacho, so it revs to 8500 lol
Snapped a front axel first 30 mins (brand new axel!).
Loving the U151F, made a controller for it, you can control the shift pressure, so it shouldnt snap an axel again, but changes instantly! Only got 1-4 gears running atm (need a bigger controller). Pushbutton sequential.
Was worried about the open centre, so took it for some grass and dirt hill climbs, did great!
The top mount with a fan is more like an inter-heater. Will try a bigger one and bigger scoop, if that fails I will try to fit water-air somehow.
Raced a VX 297 HSV, beat it (just). 5psi into $600 camry motor lol
