Thanx Ben! Bah new suspension u pansy! was good fun, tho after the ride in dylans car coil-overs seem like they would be the shit!

But first thing for me (as i said before i think) will be to sort out the cooling so i can get more then like 3-4 hard laps

edit: does anyone have an idea what times the M3 was doing? i can't see it on the list!

Finney, for brake fluid go to a motorcycle shop and get a couple of bottles of Motul RBF600. Awesome stuff.
Amen, that's the stuff i use, be prepared for $25/500ml. You can also get it from mx5 mania, which is at hornsby. (Ph: 9482 3238)

Another great day guys, thanks to all who came along and got out on the track, and those who supported and spectated. You guys really help make the days worthwhile. Thanks also for the couple of drives and rides i got; always good to experience different cars.

There was a few more 1st timers too, good to see you guys get out there and get stoked, think there's a few more people infected with the bug now

I'm happy enough with the 1:20.5 i managed, quicker than a turbo mx5!

I’ve been doubting that 17.9 time, that maybe the hand timing was a little TOO inaccurate, but even 18s have been seeming a long way off lately. Friday has given me renewed confidence that, while I’m nowhere near it now, I can see where to make changes and 18s no longer seem as unattainable as they had been starting to. A drive in finney's car helped point out that i've been moving in the wrong direction with my front end setup, and combined with less grippy tyres, being down on power, and having to pump the brakes back before every stop, I’m happy with how I ran.

In fact, I jumped straight out of his and into mine, and his has noticeably more corner speed and less understeer on exit. Mine turned in harder, but by apex I’m losing ground. His got much better runs out of 8 and 10, important ones. Its hard to tell because mine holds its own under brakes and on the way in, but it felt like I might’ve got his round quicker once or twice, with him in the passenger seat. But at least its shown me that there is potential to get back down towards the 18s, and maybe even make that 17.9 official.

Looking forward to any more photos, and also a few of joel's video grabs (a green 180 in particular )

The next wakefield is 1st of September (friday), i don't think i'll be able to get out of work for it (first one i've missed since i've started) but i'm happy to let you guys know about it, and organise anyone who's keen to go, or put you in touch with who'll be organising.

1st september.. count me out for that one aswell i already know that i've got a work function on that day and will need to be saving money for a trip to qld for jambo. dylan, in regards to that 1:23 had to be with garth driving the car i believe.. i doubt i had that sort of speed at the end of the day. whilst i'd like to claim it i highly doubt that i was capable of that for my 1st time out there.

Garth, that's good to hear that you're making some progress. You've certainly got the stopping all sorted but do yourself a favour and get a good seat like Finney's

Garth, with some decent brakes & the right suspension, you should be able to hit 1:18 easy.
Considering that I still running the turbo diesel & my suspension at the moment is completely shagged & I'm running a 1:24.

Dylan's coilovers might be good on the track, but when he was following me home from Canberra, all I could see was headlights bouncing up & down. I'm prepared for more of a compromise...

Anyone know somewhere I can get Koni inserts rebuilt?
