Help to ID this part in my engine bay

Hello everyone. What are these parts in my YN55 Hilux engine bay, and what is their function? I am talking about the two parts at either end of the long black hose. One goes to the engine block, the other is a black cylindrical canister, which has another hose that vents to air. The main hose is old and hard and if it is an important part - will need to be replaced

The black round box on end of hose is air filter for exhaust air injection, part of the emission control system. Don't know how you would go disconnecting the hose and blocking off the valve on the engine though, NSW only specification apparently. Just as easy to get some vacuum hose right size and replace. Just go to Supercheap or Repco and look to see what is available in similar size with 90 degree bend on one end.

Well I want to keep it ridgy didge orig, don't wanna be pulling off pollution gear and all that.
Is it just air that flows through that hose then? If so should be sweet
