Default 4AGE 20V Valve spring installation

    Hi all.

Does anyone know for sure which tool you can use to install valve springs in the 20V engine with the head on?

    looking at something like this,
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lisle-36200-...-/140973803598

But want to make sure that it will work.

I am going to replace the valve spring in the race car after the next round in January,
and would like to see if we can do it without taking the head off.
Was going to do it now but the dyno tuner I used is booked out until February so wont do it until then.

Only because to remove the head is not an easy job the way it is all pieced together,
need to take all the exhaust off, the the turbo off the manifold, then the exh manifold etc off,
not hard but take a bit and not really necessary.

I may end up having to take the head off in the end anyway,
but would buy or borrow a tool if I know it will fit the small diameter springs.

    Your link does not work
I made my own . Here is my collet remover with magnet

Here is my spring compressor used to compress the spring so as to be able to install collets

And if you are installing new valve stem seals you will need a remover tool for them.
I found to my embarrassment that the collet remover works even if the valve is not held shut.

    Link should be fixed.

Don't need to do the stem seals as they were done when it was assembled last.
Engine has only done dyno tuning and 1 event since full rebuild.

Remover looks good but what did you use for leverage to push the springs down to reinstall,
as the springs I am fitting are a lot stiffer than standard.

I just made something I could push down on . Basically I leant on it while fitting the collets

I used a modified g-clamp with a bit of tube similar to what madmont posted.
Bit fiddly but it did the job.
