Nah, they don't, all-in-one ECU - it still has L1,L2,L3 pins but I've never checked if they output anything. They could potentially go to something...

well on a lexus its for air suspension
it says it in my workshop manual

it also makes sense cause the air suspension on older cars have 3 settings

anyway maybe they are communication wires so they can have a variety of settings depending on model of car

it worked !! ... kinda haha

its barely driveable with rough low idle (thats enough for it to stall sometimes) and what seems like a bad misfire

starts runs as it should thats fine but its revs are sort of "hunting" around and the exhaust is a litle black but not really smoky (overfueling ?)
rough idle that seems to increase revs by itself then drop them again and increase and drop etc randomly.

its also unresponsive for example if i jab the throttle a little it will take a good second before it pulls itself together then cough and misfire then actually rev up

ive changed the spark plugs and gapped them to .08mm

someone thought it might be the ecu ... i bloody hope not

only got it working yesterday arvo so ill go over it again for an unplugged vacum line or something

1JZ runs map, so it would have to be a very large leak to cause that.

I'd say the motor is running in limp home mode, due to bad wiring and/or a bad sensor.

Get the CEL up and running, make sure she's not throwing any codes.

When you do he gearbox flush take the time to pull the pan off, remove the metal filter screen and clean it with petrol/degreaser. It may be OK, but it could also be really clogged.

You will need some cork gasket to put the filter back on in addition to the gasket for the pan itself.

I think the gearbox asks for Dexron 2 and since it is available this is what I used, even though Dexron 3 is said to be a replacement for it.

    thread grave digger

in follow up if anyone gives a toss it didn't change gears due to no speedo cable. in my haste i cut it to get the 7m out and the 1j gearbox uses the speed sensor from the dash which gets its input from a speedo cable that runs off the back of the gearbox. after that i had the car running fine just the starter motor was a bit dickie.
i never had the cruise control or power button working (for obvious wiring noobness reasons) but it boosted and kicked down fine!

after running around in it for a while some toss-pot in a ml320 merc cut me off and effectively ran over my LHS front and wrote my car off, his insurance paid for a blue mx83

i have collected a boost controller, fmic, exhaust, lsd etc etc

had intentions of swapping the 1j into the blue car but i killed the 7m and it has kinda sat still since then. hence my thread being raised from the dead. i have been re-motivated

so when the rain clears i shall finish swapping engines and come up against this wiring issue again, so I'm trawling the forums now for all the smarty pants that have done this since me and properly noted and shared their findings!

sorry if bringing this thread back from the dead offends ;P
