sumps are interchangeable, but try to use the oil pump from a 5mge(crown ms112/123) as they have more flow for the twin cam head.
can't help you much with the gearbox issue though.
Hi,
A while ago i purchased a 1974 MS65 crown and the 4m is a bit sad (no comp in #3 and hg is cooked, botom end knock also) so i picked up an MX73 wreck for the 5m to do a swap. little bit more power, still looks cool
ENGINE:
sump, will the 4m sump fit or will i need a 5M/7M crown sump?
oil pump, are the pickups interchangable?
GEARBOX:
currently it has a W40 in it which has nothing wrong with it at all, but i have a W50 in my shed and it has a different shifter position (further back, lined up in an mx36 cressida).
the bolt pattern on top of the boxes is different, short of getting a new shifter housing, is there a soloution to this?
i realise i could just do trial and error, but if someone already knows it would save a lot of screwing around.
Thanks.

i have the 4m apart now, the oil pickup is integral to the pump cover, will see if it bolts to the 5m pump when i start pulling the 5m down. if that doesnt work, i know of a crown 7m that would have the correct pump for my needs.
from what i can tell with the gearbox is that i need the shifter housing from a 5 speed celica (ra40?) so i'll get serching i guess.
well seems the w40 housing does fit the w50!
now to sort the oil pump out and happy days!
