on top of all the other reasons, my phone doesnt have the battery capacity any more (first gen galaxy S) to stay on the whole day if i spend 3hrs on facebook, ill be lucky if i get home with 20% battery after a normal 12hr shift. (we use our phones at work for comms)

facebook sucks the life out of people, its anti-social, social networking.

    Demise of Toymods....

If you can't use eBay/Gumtree/Facebook, maybe go use the Pocket Trader.

If Toymods decided to wrap up the forums, a HUGE amount of information would be lost. Despite all our post whoring, politically incorrect (to some) banter we thrive on for our daily fix, the sole reason this forum has been a success is simply in the spirit of the club itself to provide a huge technical resource to all Toyota owners out there so they can maintain or modify their car however they'd like.

Despite being more Japanese car enthusiast than owing an allegiance to the Toyota moniker, I have not found a single one stop shop of such breadth of knowledge when it comes to modifying cars as this forum. The closest I can think of is NASIOC but it very much does only specialise in a type of car rather than a whole manufacturer. One engine rules supreme there.

IMO Toymods only demise is that its heart is in Sydney, so the level of growth and interest is still very localised. But considering all Australian Toyota owners clubs happily get along, it's a non-issue.

Classifieds should be there to benefit club members. In actuality they usually assist bottom feeders so any club member decisions should be respected. The forum itself is much larger than the club so it's a privilege to be able to use it.

I would be happy if classified posting was only reserved to financial club members. i.e. listing their car knowing well its a trusted forum seller and has a story/history rather than of unknown origin.

I wouldn't mind seeing the parts wanted being retained. Most of us have bits lurking in the garage that we wouldn't put up for sale but would be willing to part with for someone in need.

FWIW, I don't use facebook, nor will I be, because tinfoil hat.
    +1 to everything said here.

I don't use Facebook because it's basically spam from friends and aqaintances instead of from Nigerian princes and dick enlarging scientists. CWOFT.

Whilst i dont disagree with you entirely, why would you use toymods classifieds when there is an abundance of free/cheaper places to sell online (fb/gumtree, etc)??

I think it worked better when there was a minimum post requirement before being able to use the classifieds, not sure why it was removed.

If you were already a member of Toymods or were looking to get into classic cars, you may prefer to buy an almost or finished project from a trusted forum member, rather than looking for a barn find project that's way over your head.

I do believe there are much better sites for buying/selling, and I agree with the decisions made by Toymods. I was just making the comment that whatever is decided in future, should only benefit Toymods financial members only, not just forum riff-raff.

    UPDATES

At the last board meeting we completed our review of the forums and what we want to keep and what we want to remove when we move to the new software. After receiving input from club and forum members, we have decided to change the structure of the classifieds section as follows:

    - All sections of the current classifieds will be closed and deleted except for the sponsors section
    - Two new sections will be opened: Parts Wanted and Toyotas For Sale.

The reason we are deleting and reopening the two sections above, rather than just keeping them open, is that it makes it easier for when we shift to the new forum software. You will see the changes come into effect over the next days and weeks (i hope). The changes are designed both to help speed up the forums as well as to streamline our responsibilities in regards to forum membership approvals, as part of our shift away from the old, shitty manual approval process.

As a result of the above, we won't be opening the current sections up to new posts in the interim. Sorry about the inconvenience we have caused whilst you all waited for an answer.

The 2 new sections Vito mentioned have been opened and can be posted in. All registered users should have access, report back if you are having difficulty.

whole cars, incomplete cars. the point is it is a car. not a box of parts. the car can be full of boxes of parts, but the thing for sale must be the car itself.

i just posted on the facebook page just then but came arcoss this post just now.

Ive been apart of Toymods since the original forums page before the crash and have enjoyed the forums for many years, but i must say im not a fan of the change to move the classified section onto the face book page, due to the fact that there are not category on facebook. So bascily too me there is just a massive list of items forsale in a massive line.
SO unless your on facebook 24/7 its really easy to miss lots of items and takes to much time to sort though.

Due to this i will possibly move on else were for buying and selling of items
