Default RA64 to RA40 crossmember conversion...

Hey fellas, got a few quick questions about throwing a rack and Pinion into my RA43...

I've been doing some digging around, and I was wondering if you guys had any words of wisdom...

I have an RA64 crossmember and rack and pinion waiting on me when I make it back Stateside. Here's my cookbook of front suspension I'm working on. Thanks to you guys, I discovered the XT130/RA60/MX60 strut/rotor/caliper conversion. The XT130 has the same 8.4° stub axle inclination as the RA40, meaning this is a drop in.

I want to run with a rack and pinion setup, and I have heard varying answers about the 64 crossmember. I thought I read on here it was a drop-in, and utilizing Starion/Scorpion (Mitsu Lambda) lower control arms, it keeps wheel track close. Can anyone here verify that I need those LCAs, or will the RA40 units work?

I have gone crazy looking for the thread that has all the crossmember/wheel track measurements. I thought I saw it on here. Can you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I'm in the middle of something similar. Your RA64 crossmember is about 680mm from control arm point to control arm point?
And in your RA43 crossmember the same measurement as above is around 590mm???

If you cant make your front end 80 more wide you will notice that cant use the ra64 crossmember.

In my similar problem I ended up using is200/300 lexus rack and pinion. It's fast compared to 80's and 90's toyotas. Main point being that its easy to shorten to 620mm.
It has 60mm spacer on passenger side which is relatively easy to delete. So you are end up with 30mm problem in track width.
70 series corolla lower control arms are 10mm shorter than your 40-series celica. That mean you need to move lower control arm points in crossmember 15mm outwards and have corolla control arms.
You will end up with little negative camber and zero bumpsteer.

By the EPC part number all IS200 and IS300 racks are all the same except RWD or LHD. My rack is from some IS200. It has EXACTLY 64mm(my remembering above was 4mm off) spacer on fearer side of the rack. I removed that and cut the same length off from the body and weld it back. This can be done also in lathe without cutting and welding. Just shorten and cut new thread. Same length must be also removed from the rack itself. This is easy since it has already looooong 12.5mm center bore for 14x1.5mm thread.
