2T-GEU EFI conversion to solex carbies

I have a 2T-GEC 11111-88261 with EFI and i would like to do the following conversions and was wondering if anyone knows if the below will work:

1. Remove EFI and EFI manafold and replace with Mikuni Solex 40-PHH-3 carbies and matching manifold
2. Remove cam cover and replace with one from a 2T-G 11111-88220

Basically i have a TA22 with a 1978-1980 EFI engine and i want to have the benefits of the Yamaha head but looking like the original motor

Should work. May need to fiddle with the carbies a bit to get running nicely. I vaguely recall that there is a difference in intake stud pattern between early 2TG head and later EFI 2TG head in the middle. Something to check out.

Cam cover will swap over no worries.

You might want to see if you will need to add an electric fuel pump?

I have possibly inaccurate memory of needing to do this when converting an 18rgeu to carbs.

You would have a high pressure fuel pump for efi need to change, removing the efi loom could be fun

Yes it will work.

But as mentioned above - Fuel pump will need changing to Low pressure Electric pump.

Late heads have the stud locations for both the EFI and Carbies. Worse case you may have to move a stud

If it has a lobe thing to run a manual pump it could, my 18rgeu did not

With the 2T-GEU there is no pump cam on idler shaft. You will have to use electric.

What options are there for a small discrete fuel pump for the solex carnies? Do I need a simple pump with just a line in then out? the current efi fuel pump is in the boot and is huge with heaps of fuel lines coming out of it, too messy for my liking.

I think the pump needs to be no more than 4 psi and can it be mounted in the engine bay?

Facet pumps are noisy. We used to call them rattler pumps. I usually use a rotary vane or roller pump such as a Carter. http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...4070/overview/ but you will need a pressure reg. I used this model pump, feeding twin Webers on my rally/ daily car for just over 6 years with no problems. Usually pay about $95 to $110 AUD depending where you goto. Best to fit in engine bay near carbies, as in a TA22 near original filter position. (Edit) Also good idea to have filter between tank and pump, used to use a metal body filter.

I run a soft mounted facet pump located in the trunk beside the fuel tank. Yes it is noisey when priming the carbs (reasuringly so actually) but not noticeable once engine running.

Have a pressure regulator/stop valve switch/tilt switch in the engine bay.

3TGTE bottom end/88261 head/webber 45's.
