Default what the hell do I put in my MA61

Because I'm a big baby and i refuse to make decisions for my self I've come here to ask what on earth i should put into my supra to replace the engine of all engines, the mighty 5M-E!
    \\\\\\\\\\
The car is almost 100% stock so i want to leave it pretty tidy, I was originally gonna pinch the motor out of a mx73 Cressida and just go 5mge so it doesn't look like shit under the hood and i can still call it "original". Pretty much everyone told me if I'm going to go to the effort of pulling the 5m-e out i should just put something actually powerful in. So I did a bit of poking around into some popular swaps and all roads seem to lead to 7m or jz, This is where I'm stuck.

I've got another project on the way in 2 months so I don't want to dump mega funds into this swap so 2jzgte is not something I'm interested in. My options appear to be 2jz-ge or 7mgte, I'm just unsure of what the hell i should do,

I can get a 2jz-ge with accessories, ecu and loom for $500 that just leaves the bell housing for my w58. This would leave me with a modern 3.0 I6 N/A powered ma61 so not a whole lot different on paper than the 5m-e size wise which might help in terms of getting it engineered. On the other hand I could wait until a similarly priced 7mgte shows up and re use my engine mounts(?) and throw that in my car, being an older motor it doesn't seem to make as much sense but its a bit more powerful with a lot more torque and a completely different style of power delivery, Would the 7mgte be harder to engineer because of the added turbo?.

From what i've read they seem to be pretty similar in terms of the amount of work required to swap them in, The two things I'm picky about is my digital dash (that's gotta work with what ever i put in) and my wheels, I understand to get any of these engines engineered I'll need to upgrade my front brakes. Is there an upgrade i can do that will fit behind my stock wheels. I really like the stock ma61 wheels and would be sad to see them go but I'll consider it if I have to.

    Any advice is appreciated cheers.

2jz-ge any day. 7m's are just trouble. no matter what anyone says.
also, ma61's are front sump and no 7mgte ever came with a front sump, so you need to swap sump and mod the oil pump to suit (front sump oil pumps dont cut the mustard)

jz's are proven to be reliable, economical and cheap.

also, for engineering purposes, the 2jz-ge will be easier as it's still n/a. it's a fairly straight forward swap, with wiring being the biggest hurdle.
the best engines to use would be jzx91 (2jz-ge, front sump) or jzx101 (2jz-ge vvti, front sump).

    hope this helps.

Considered a 1uz. More torque, better weight placement. Already have to buy mounts for a 2jzge anyway.

    ^ also a great choice.

wiring is no easier or harder, if you want to keep the manual box it can get costly though. (needs aftermarket flywheel and bellhousing, 1uz never came as a manual in any car)
exhaust can be an issue on the drivers side due to steering.

ls400/celsior engines are what you want as they are front sump.

.........how fast do you want to go?
    I went with a 1JZ because they are not much more than a 2JZGE to buy and they have turbo's and shit;
Putting one in is probably a fair bit more involved than a NA 2JZ - then again I went with a R154 and am putting a single on it.
1UZ I reckon would be on par cost wise with where I am, save on using the W58 but spend on the bellhousing/flywheel and headers.

Toyota engines are all dead fucking easy from the early 90's to wire up.

That said, if there is such thing as a good 7M, they are no shit nearly 100% bolt in and the go alright. Mine was super skid happy.
I had mine done is a day, hardest bit was finding the powersteering hose I tossed in a box off my old MX83.

the wiring is easy for some (such as myself) but most people get freaked out by wires.

Read my 6VD1 thread. Isuzu V6 from Holden Rodeo's. Might spark your interest.

Keeping Toyota. 2JZGE is a good no nonsense swap for modest power as has been mentioned.

haven't been on here in ages sorry, ended up picking up a 2jzge-vvti with everything on it including loom and ecu with a free auto tranny (yuck) for $500. I've got a bellhousing to suit my supras box to the 2jz, Found a guy locally who has a stock flywheel I should be able to buy off him and get ground, while my dad makes me some engine mounts.

Great to hear that the 2JZGTE was your weapon of choice. That will be awesome in an MA61
