Default Lock nuts - no key

Hey, my celica has lock nuts on it and i want to get the wheels off but i dont have the key for it, so im just trying to find out some ways of of getting lock nuts off if you dont have the key for them.
Only one i know of is weld a nut to the locknut andjust undo it with a socket but my problem is i dont have a welder, and dont realy know of anyone with one so what are some other ways of getting them off?

    cheers

grab a socket that almost fits over it.. belt iton with a hammer and undo said lock nut.

that is assuming its the type of locknut where the key fits over it. if its one where the key just fits into the top then if you can grab a grinder and put a slot into it then belt it around with a coal chisel.

oh and if you havent got a socket that will belt over it quite right then a key for another set of lockies works pretty well too.

after doing some work on my car i seemed to loose my key.. i swear i must have left it on a nut and driven off

Have done the socket thing on both types before and works a treat.
Just use a cheapish socket so it won't matter to much if you damage it by belting the snot out of it.

you can get a sockets which have a reverse thread inside them. so as you undo the nut the theard tightens on the nuts and eventually locks on. force a socket on is also similiar but not as effective

im not sure. what u mean by an eay out but im sure your on the right track

to be sure i dont think they are readily available. the first time i saw one was at my mechanics and i forgot my locknut. i was what the hell is that. his response was "shhh....its a bit oif a secret".

to be honest i wuld try a normal socket on one first like suggest and if not a tyre shop will easily get it off fot you. its not worth buying a tool which you'll probably only ever use once

im more thinking it would be neat for removing other stripped bolts.

an ezy out is like a thread tapper that has a left hand thread on it.. so you drill a hole in a stuffed bolt then start screwing this into it counter clockwise and it will thread into the bolt getting tighter and tighter until the bolt lets go and unscrews (in theory) beware casue if you break one off in the bolt they seem to be made of material harder then any drill bit ever concieved.

sounds like the exact same concept. n ow u mention it i know what your talking about but never seen one. its got look very similiar. good thing with a wheel nut is its not going to snap.....dread thinking about it happening to a head bolt

Well, i cant take it to a workshop because its not registered and it doesnt realy run well enough to do anything other then idle.
Its one of the ones that kinda have the covering around the outside and the key piece on the inner part, so its completly round on the outside, this might be a bit harder to get off im guessing.

does the wheel cover around the nut... ie is the nut inset into the wheel or does it eaisly protrude ?

if it protudes then grab the grinder and cut a slot into it and grab the coal chisel and tap it off

or alternativly if there is enough meat grind a pair of flat edges and grab it with a spanner.

just be casreful if its a good wheel you dont want grinder sparks etc ruining the finish.

or put a long bar over it and snap the whole stud off. some fresh longer wheel studs never hurt anyway

pretty dodgy finish on the rims right now, but ill protect them anyway, doesnt realy matter if the studs break just want to get the wheels off and maybe use on different car, the celica is going to the tip any way.

While im on the subject of the celica, anyone need parts off a ta23 before it gets taken away?

    cheers
