    Default W57 transmission

A few months back i have to let go my nissan micra 1.0 turbo audi/bmw killer because 3 cars and a bought house was a little to much. I sold the turbo and components seperatly and brought the shell and engine to the junkyard where i traded the micra leftovers against a cressida transmission that should be a W57 transmission.

I want to build the 1jzgte setup and i have read that a W58 is the better choice of trannie. Would the W57 be sufficient to?

the main difference between the two transmissions is that the w57 has an alloy sandwich plate, the 58 is steel, & the 58 runs a taller 5th. In theory the 58 should be able to take more power, but it all depends on how you drive.

You can get w58s with aluminum sandwich plates as well that run wider bearings.
i dont know if one is stronger than the other.

I dont know how different the internals are on the w57 but if the only difference is that 5th ratio, then id have to think the strength is about the same between the two.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

My sandwich plate is made out of steel, so there is a possible it is an W58, then i am very happy

that brings me to the next question, have in mind that i live in Europe, what is the best option for differential/rear axle swap. Some people told me to get an axle of an old volvo they are indestructable according to those people.

Maybe there is another toyota axle that is a better option that i don't know.....
