    Default ta23 shock absorber question

At the other end in the world, in the stupid Netherlands were nobody loves cars i have a hard time to find parts for my ta23........ Last week my front shocks decided to die and that isn't a nice drive with koni yellows on the back.

on my quest i find a set of bilstein B4 shocks, but they were ment for a T1.... carina 1975-1978 with the same 2TB engine. I thought these would fit but before i am going to buy them i want to know for sure these wil fit, does anybody know the suspension parts of the carina and the celica are the same. My celica is a 1977 car so i thought it would fit.

    second question:

in the future i want to swap the 2TB engine for a late model 1jzgte engine ( i think i have the right crossmember that is the reason i want the later model engine because the sump is located at the front. The axle spindles of the stock ta23 celica are they strong enough to last the weight and power of this engine or should i concider putting on AE86 ones? Because if i have to do this i wanted to buy the techno toy tuning coilover kit with the ae86 conversion struts. I really like to buy Australian stuff because there is lots to find, but the shipping costs are just to much.... The other half i can create myself because i am an engineer. This winter i want to build my FC caliper/S13 brake setup, i wil post this and maybe if anybody asks i will be suplying the CAD models fore those who like this !

The biggest difference between early toyota's is the diameter of the strut tube.

Measure that and then the guys at bilstein or koni should know what will fit.....

If need be I can find part numbers for you but I will be diving deep in the memory banks for those......

I can tell you what we use in Australia for lowered cars. but you may need to weld an extension on the bottom of the shock.

    Cheers Matt

I studied several catalogs and the best bang for my buck are the bilstein B4,s and indeed everywhere in every webshop they are vor a 75-78 carina but at monroe, bilstein, kyb the part numbers are matching for a carina and celica. My question was also answered bij a guy that sells second hand celica parts.

I also discovered that i can purchase the tokico illumina adjustable kit for the entire car, so i will buy the t3 coilover kit and the rear shocks seperatly.
