    Default 4a piston differences?

Just rebuilding a 4afc. The block is stuffed!
I have a 4ac bottom end, but can the twincam head be put on this block successfully?
I have tried surching but couldnt find an answer.
    Thanks

I have a 4afe that I never used sitting in my shed. It is an import engine an supposedly low milage. If you want it $50 + postage. To my knoledge the twin cam head will fit although I am not sure about the piston to valve clearance as th 4A would not have 4 flycuts in the pistons.

    Cheers

Thanks todd, but i have already started on rebuilding the other one. dam.
I think i have to change the pistons to the 4afc/4afe ones so the valves dont hit the pistons

    ????

For your money man, I'd personally be finding a bigport 4A-GE. They're dirt cheap now, and a much nicer engine

Cleveland Brisbane. Before you change pistons check your piston to valve clearances. Do a dummy assembly using a compressed head gasket and use some plastersine between the piston and head. dissassemble and use a sharp razer blade to cut the platersine on the point where it has been compressed by the piston. Measure it and if it is above 0.020"or 0.5mm you will be fine allowing for high RPM rod stretch ect. Worth a try before you go through the trouble of changing pistons. Good luck. Or as stated go for a 4AGE but it is all down to budget isn't it.

    Thanks heaps todd.
I'll give that a go. Yeh i have a 4age sitting at the back of the garage with a spun bearing, i was going to rebuild and put that in, but the car is carby and would require a bit of time and money to convert and wire for efi. Also this is my brothers car and he wanted to do it on a budget.
    Cheers
