    Default Rt142 corona coilovers

    Hi guys,

I have a 1986 rt142 Corona sedan. I've been looking for some bolt in coilovers that will be a farely straight forward job and I'm trying to avoid weld on kits. So far I have found a pair from techno toy tuning
    ( https://technotoytuning.com/toyota/r...on-ra64-celica )
These are aparently for a ra64 celica. I know that the rt142 corona and the ra65 celica have exactly the same frunt struts but does anyone know if ra64 and ra65 have the same struts?
    Any advice will be helpful.

    Cheers,
    Brad.

They have the same diameter strut tubes yes, I'll strongly suggest you do get a weld on kit though, If your trying to avoid welding, just take it to a fabricator, I only say this as to get the desired height I'm sure you are after hence the need for coilovers, you are going to need shorter shock inserts and therefore shortened strut casings which requires welding, so the slip on aluminium threaded sleeves may aswell be replaced by steel threaded sleeves and welded on

    Cheers, Peter

    Thanks for the reply Pete,

Shouldn't the coilover kit have shorter strut tubes than standard anyway? And shorter shocks?

    Cheers, Brad.

That kit does yes, The struts pictured are actually ae86 items, postage from the states is not cheap, The ones t3 do i believe you need to send them struts to modify for you, so postage there will be quite a bit
plus with the exchange rate your looking at $1040aud+postage for the return trip. it will be cheaper to buy the otomoto kit,get it fitted and have your struts shortened at a fabricator, then buy kyb agx shocks from summit racing (they are cheaper than anywhere in aus even with postage and exchange rate) the otomoto kit also offers whatever spring rate you desire. even if you want to get it powdercoated after that it will end up cheaper than getting the t3 kit, by all mean if that's the way you want to go, got for it, but there are cheaper better setups out there

The Otomoto kit, be sure to specify spring rate. $329
    http://www.otomoto.com.au/p/4116535/...eeve-kit-.html
kyb AGX adjustable short stroke inserts, you will need 2 as they are sold as an each not pair so $335.65 inc postage
    http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...5016/overview/
    so $664.65 for parts.
kyb excel-G non adjustable short stroke inserts $206.23 inc postage
    http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...5100/overview/
$535.23 with non adjustable short stroke inserts
All the fabricator has to do is cut a section out of the middle of each strut, weld them back together,
weld on the sleeve kit, put in a brace like the t3 one if you desire, i cant see that taking more than 2 hours.
At a rate of say $120 an hour, your looking at $240 but it wont take that long
then paint. so your looking at $904.65 + paint at an absolute maximum,
If you go for the excel-g inserts $775.23 + paint
either way cheaper than $1040+postage both ways
