Default Camshaft Choice and how to limit rpm?

    Good Morning everyone,

Need to find camshafts for the 16v with .350" / 8.76mm with 264 degrees duration, going to run a signle 32/36 DGAV so ECU wont be an issue. Found out how to mount the webber onto a 4agze intake so thats a good start.

Next part of the question is i need to limit rpm to 6000rpm but without an ecu how can i go about this?

    Thanks

I use a Procomp rev limiter myself

How are you planning on controlling ignition if you're doing away with the ECU?

sounds like an easy start, but I wouldn't be so quick to call it "good"

easiest way to limit RPM would be a shift light with the output rigged up to cut ignition, what are you building this engine for? who and how will check if 6000 RPM has been exceeded?

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me.... A 264 camshaft is designed to make power beyond a stock camshaft. stock camshafts make power to 6600, a typical 264 makes power to about 7500-8000. So, if you are limiting rpm to 6000, I can't think of a 264 cam that will make more power then a stock cam... with maximum compressions being run for each.

As far as a downdraft 32/36 getting that to flow well on a 4AGZE manifold will be a task. The 4AGZE manifold is a compromise at best.

From your other thread - "Getting a 4age 16v bluetop to 115hp@6000rpm and 120ft/lbs@4000 using 10:1 comp and a signle DGAV carb" - this isn't going to be easy... especially the torque you desire.... stock 4AGE with 10 to one compression makes 125hp @ 6600, and 100#/ft of torque at about 4800.

If induction was better... I'd say use stock cams, get a good port job (especially the chambers) and bump static compression to almost 11 to 1. You might get nearer your goals that way....
