It's been a while but I think that they could be part of the water pump. Also some had what looks like a big nut just in front of the pulley so you get a 32mm spanner on it and smack it in the direction of engine rotation. As said I could be wrong so anyone else?

Ok out of curiosity and to refresh the memory banks did a bit of research...Thanks to my tame parts supplier letting me look at the parts on the shelf

Should be the 4 nuts on the water pump pulley and it slides off.. But! they can freeze on to the water pump shaft spigot so a large flatbladed screw driver and big hammer are your friends here as you need to "Break" the corrosion that will have built up, after that a file is your friend to clean up the burs that you will leave as a result of a bit of persuasion (you want to try and force the screw driver in between the water pump pulley and flange of the fan clutch). Interestingly enough Toyota still list an overhaul kit for the water pump on these but no stock. Fan clutch via my supplier is listed at $110 RRP (3 in stock) and water pump at $44 (7 in stock). Now this is assuming that the engine is from or in an MS-5* Crown

Ended up needing to press the pulley and fan clutch off in one go,but needed to dismantle the fan clutch to refit it loosing all the special grease so I'll cheat and use a spare thermo fan I have.thanks for your help people.

If it was the early style fan which is basically intergrated to the waterpump then I would have got a waterpump from a 4M which runs a fan that unbolts with 4 bolts from the pump. How many do you want lol.

Played with an 18R like this once, where the viscous hub was pressed on to the water pump.
Turns out you can order a water pump with a replacement hub already attached to it. Was more expensive obviously, but made the job much easier!

Rather than start a new thread, can anyone here tell me whether the water pump from an 18R will fit a 2M?

The design looks the same, both 5 bolt round, but I can get the 18R pumps with the viscous hub attached, but cant get the viscous hub or pulley for a 2M.
