18RG Issues...

Hey all

Having a few problems with the 18RG in my RT104 Corona. Basically I just swapped the points to an electronic ignition with a high performance coil, and now it is running better on the whole, but every now and then as I am coming to a stop, or have already been stopped completely for a few seconds and the car is idling, it turns off. I then have to give it some gas as I am turning it back on for the car to start? I don’t know if the idle revs are low, or if that has something to do with the timing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you check the timing after you fitted the electronic ignition?

Even the simple ignition units need to be timed afterwards as the "break" point can alter.

Try and borrow a timing light and check it at the flywheel. If the timing is out (and I guarantee it is if it wasn't done at the time) then that will alter the tickover speed and cause stalling.
