    Default 5VZ EWD - 2004 Hilux

    Hi,

I am in need of anyone that may be able to assist me getting my hands on an EWD for a 2004 hilux 4x4 with 5VZ.

I have just put one into my wife's 4runner, but getting the correct EWD for a RHD vehicle is getting a little difficult!! I know it exists, I have managed to get 4 pages out of it, but trying to get the rest of it is proving difficult.

    Anyone able to help?

    Thanks

Sorry - yes, I am chasing an Electrical Wiring Diagram for a 2004 5VZ Hilux.

They are pretty readily available for the diesels and 3RZ's, but not so easy to locate for the 5VZ (not so popular).

I have done a 3VZ to 5VZ conversion in a 4runner and I need to wire it up. I have got an EWD for a 2003 Tacoma, and the pinouts are pretty similar on the ECU, but the wiring is all different colours, so before I try and merge the IK2 plug from the donor to the IG2 / IG3 plugs in the 4runner, i would prefer to have the correct reference material.

    Thanks

I bought a Haynes workshop manual hoping it had a wiring diagram for the 2.7 litre motor . I was disappointed to find it did not have the desired wiring diagram. But it did have wiring diagrams for the other motors including 5VZ-FE

Hi Madmont - I have the Haynes workshop manual as well, and it has helped for the ECU pinouts for this swap, however I am trying to splice the body looms, and it doesn't go into enough detail for this.

Well, for ECU pinouts - it was pretty good, but for anything outside of that where wiring goes via connectors its not great.

    Where I stand currently:
ECU: I have 2 of the 4 plugs for the ECU, and looking at ECU outputs, I need to get the other two plugs to make up some connectors (not everything in the ECU is necessary given the 4runner doesn't run other ECU's such as 4WD ecu)
    5VZ ECU - missing 2 plugs.jpg

Body Loom splice - need to splice the IG2 & IG3 from the 4runner into the IK2 / other plug from the hilux
IK2: I have the Tacoma 2003 EWD, so after lining up the 2003 Tacoma ECU pinouts and the 2004 Hilux Pinouts, the wires are the same - just different colours, so I am fairly confident that the IK2 wires I have are the correct wires - but 99% sure the colours are wrong.

I have the EWD for the 4runner (from Toyota) so I know the IG2 / IG3 wires.

I just need to work out those last 4 wires on that other plug (possibly IK6?? but the Tacoma has 12 wire plug, not a 5 wire plug??) This is the main reason I need the Hilux EWD.

After this there is some minor mechanical work such as getting Prado extractors for this engine to clear the chassis rails / torsion bars. Remake the hard fuel line from the filter to the engine bay to clear the exhaust. Then the rest should just be a case of bolt it all back and try and turn the key ...

Ok, a little more digging, the relevant manual for the RZN / LN / KZN Hilux is EWD378F

If anyone works at toyota or can look at the parts listing, I need the 1999-2004 VZN hilux EWD ...

Can't u just probe the last four wires and figure where they r on the loom
If they don't goto ecu then they must go somewhere on engine

I've got about 6 Hilux manuals from toyota
I'll go thru em on weekend if u can wait
I got a million looms to sort out by weekend

If that's what it comes down to then that's what I will have to do (chase & probe the wires) to work out what they are ... or where they go.

If you could have a look on the weekend that would be great!! Cheers!
