what gearbox are you planning to run with this?
Planning the same sort of setup but leaving the cams standard, i'll worry about that if it ever pops a headgasket, when that happens a bit of headwork and i'll worry about the cam.
Hey all,
I have purchased a jzx90 1jzgte to put into my s13. This is solely a track car, which will be mainly for drifting, with the odd track day/ hillclimb. I have some thoughts on what i would like engine wise, but want to get some input from you guys as i know many of you have had these for years.
Basically i'm going for a basic setup which will offer not too much lag as id like the car to be competitive to a degree, so am thinking the following:
Haltech PS2000 ECU with racepak and flex sensor
6x ID 1000cc injectors
E85
Garrett 3076 twin scroll with a kelway manifold, unknown size of external gate: thoughts?
UNDECIDED on cams.. BC step 1 264's or input please?
ROSS balancer
1NZ coilpacks
I know i havent listed anything regarding opening the engine, its been stock its whole life as it came out of a mates car from japan. Would the headstuds and headgasket be a wise move doing before getting it in, or shall i leave it until i need to?
Any input would be great as to your thoughts... and what sort of power i could roughly expect to see. Thanks in advance.

i run a similar set up,
1j
stock cams
gtx35 turbo
1000cc injectors
autronic and cdi - factory coils
ross balancer
mine makes 530rwhp...
the smaller turbo will drop the top end, but boost the low end, and e85 gives you a mountain of torque in comparrison to 98...
my advice would be to go with a gtx30 turbo - the billet front wheels are much better.
i would leave the top end alone till you have driven it....
if you want more power, do the cams then - but remember, cams generally move your power band around.
as for head gasket, worry about it if it becomes an issue, they seem to be pretty good.
Cheers
