Default AE92 Instrument Cluster - dissassembly

    Hi there,

Just to make life hard for myself; I've decided to see if I can make up an OEM looking Indicator for when Cruise Control is activated.

I plan on cutting out a rectangle between the Speedo & Tacho and inserting a matching rectangle with a "CRUISE" logo screen-printed on it. This will be back-illuminated by an LED run from the ENO wire on the Cruise Control.

Now to the basics; what is the "approved" method for separating the perspex lense & PCB from the cluster assembly w/o damaging anything? Will I have to apply heat to any plastic tangs in order to do this etc etc?

    Cheers

    GS

Unsure about anything other than the SX Cluster, so take this with a grain of salt.

I undid the brass screws all the way around, and then used a razor blade to cut back the white plastic that essentially 'rivets' the plastic to the cluster. Done it twice. no risk of cracking, just took my time and made sure nothing was catching or stuck.
