Which valley cover? The bottom one that sits between the cam covers with the spark plug holes in it or the ribbed one that goes on top of the spark plug wires (and has the hump at the distributor end)?
Im trying to find the rubber gasket that is attached to the valley cover on the smallport 4age. Mine completely falls to bits when I pull the cover off.
I had the toyota parts department look up a 1989 4age but the diagram that came up was for a bigport. He also said he doubts the gaskets would even be made any more so does anyone know of a company that sells these or have remade them?
Why does it seem so hard to find parts for the smallport?

11214-16050 - is listed for the internal one... the one the spark plug wires go through. The cover (shown in the ignition section) doesn't seem to have a gasket....
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
Yeah the internal one, thanks for that. Just out of curiosity, how did you get that number?
Smallport started in august 1989 for the 1990 year model... 1989 still had the largeport

Yeah I did have that thought, however after he asked me three times if the car had the original engine in it I soon realised he actually had no idea what he was talking about. He wasn't even aware of different 4age variations.
If I were to ask for a 1990 ae92 I would probably get parts for a 4afe. In Aus the redtop 4age only came in the ae93 sx and sx seca, then the series 2 sx seca and gti (released around 90 or 91).
I'll go in there Monday with that part number and see if they are still available.
Oldeskewltoy- did you use toyodiy.com to get that part number? I had a look on there but without a diagram to go with it I was pretty lost
Why ask for a different year? If you want parts that you know will fit your car, you tell them what your car is. Toyota Australia will have accurate listings and parts books for the models they manufactured and sold here (our Corollas weren't imported so they can have different model names, year dates and spec to Japanese or US models), if the muppet in front of the keyboard can't find the correct part in the catalogue for a 1989 model (they came out in June so it's not like they only started selling them mid-December, it was definitely a car available in 1989) he probably won't find it in a 1990 listing either. Worst case you give them your VIN number and it removes any confusion whatsoever (a lot of non-specialist dealerships will straight-up ask you for VIN and refuse to give you parts information without one, which can make asking for parts for an engine conversion rather difficult).
As for ToyoDIY, it often does not accurately cover Australian-made models (especially Corollas and Camrys). Also, it has a tendency of showing pictures of bigport engines for smallport listings, just with N/A listed for the TVIS manifold etc.

To the guys credit he did eventually ask me for the VIN number which I didn't have on me. I'll take that with me from now on.
Is there a way of viewing the diagrams to go along with toyodiy?
