Thumbs down FENDER MIRRORS and VIC ROADS Interpretation.

It had to come to the top sooner or later and raises the issue about OEM fender mirrors being placed on Australian delivered Japanese cars.

    section 16:
    Protrusions;

A modification must not result in....

Any object or fitting. protruding from any part of the vehicle in any manner likely to create risk of bodily injury to any person.

Any component, feature or object or fitting on the vehicle and the manner in which it is affixed....blah blah blahhh as above.

The rules also go into great detail about bonnet scoops and likelehood of injury from them

    Section 15...

A huge list of mods has come about to clarify the difference between RED PLATE Classic HISTORICAL and RED PLATE M for Modified cars

    Hi,

I just read it in the CMECC CASTERNOTES monthly news letter printed in sections from a VIC ROADS doco
which I will endeavour to find for you when I attend the meeting next week.

At this stage I have seen nothing official on letterhead but at bottom of the copy it says VIC ROADS PUBLICATION NUMBER 00425

but I suspect it is to introduce the M plated modified Historical category in November and is giving the club scrutineers a guideline to follow when approving cars for club rego.

I guess Mr Fergus would be a good source...

    sections about

    12 Exhaust systems
    13 Fuel Systems
14 Bonnet scoops and it shows a 165mm disc placed on the bonnet and how the scoop can pas sor fail
15 External Gauges (cant reflect light or block vision of road)
    16 PROTRUSIONS
    17 Extra lamps lights
18 Glazing Glass mentions light transmission must be RWC as per rego rules VSI2.
(Victorian RWC checkers have a light transmission meter and if it is below that level (12.5% loss) it fails RWC
