Default 4channel Direct fire ignitor solutions

Ok, im after a better method of doing ignition than the CA18DET ignitors. As good as they are it is a pain to replace them every time it screws up.
So what im after is either 2x2channel or 1x4channel ignitors. I phoned the local Repco about the Bosch 4channel unit and the guy on the other end almost had an aneurism at the $500ish price tag.

So anyone have cheaper options, im using direct fire, so i cant run 008s sadly, and i want to get out to Mallala this weekend, so off the shelf is pretty necessary. Cost is also an issue, i like to be able to eat.
    Ideas?

    dizzyless, crank wheel setup! perfect!
as to cheap couldnt tell you! but if your already have aftermarket ecu, the sensor and laser cut wheel will be under $250 and the dizzy blank off plate is cheap and easy!

Haltech ECU, the eating ignitors issue has been fixed, but i dont like my chances of finding another ignitor for less than a new setup.

Microtech X4. Retail for $150, can be found cheaper even with the flying loom Look neat, and brand new.

The question is where to get one from at short notice. I see that the X6s are up on the Microtech site for $100, but no listing for the X4s.

... or you get a chip-based solution as per thje magasquirts- IGBT (VB921) - a 3 pin unit lump of silicon. Mount onto a flat lump of alloy for a heatsink, requires ECU that does dwell control and switches to ground to fire.

    Glens Garage (US$6 ea)

    DIY Autotune (US$5.50 ea)

Also, RA autosport can buidl these into an ECU for you - plus they have lots of connectors and wiring stuff...

    I ordered 5 x VB921's from Glen's Garage (i'll be using 2 at best) so i have spares.

    cheers,
    Charles.

The X4 is essentially a box with 4 of those inside. Would be worth a lookin if you can get them in time.

Even if it does mean sourcing another stinking CA18DET ignitor

i think there's an AUS available fairchild IGBT that does pretty much the same thing as the VB921.

I'll scour thru my chat logs for the URL that wilbo found.

    cheers,
    charles.
