My bearing clearances have been blown out, they are within the limits but no factory motor would of came with them.
Combined with higher than average oil temps, been recommended to run a heavy weight mineral oil.

Only just put it in, have been using some cheap as shit Cheyenne supercheap 20w-50 oil.

    This sort of sums up what I've been told;
Modern expensive full synthetic oils are great in modern cars with emissions equipment yet in older engines sans emissions you better off with an unrated oil or running something that meets an older spec yet is still loaded with the excellent additives that newer spec oils cannot have.

stuff like the penrite racing oil still have zinc etc in them, but are also synthetic to help prevent oil breakdown and give better performance over a wider range of temperatures.

anyways all that aside, if you are still getting approx 10psi per 1000rpm with thinner oil, i would use it. if the oil is too thick then it actually wont help with the bearings anyway, and the thicker it is the more heat you will generate through friction/resistance to flow

also, didnt you get a big fuckoff oil cooler?

Running the factory water/oil because people reckon they are awesome......

Not keen on putting $80 of full synthetic in a brand new motor. Will thrash on this and see what happens.

It shouldn't hurt it, i'm still running 'run in oil' on my car.

Task for today is to replace the rear pads, and the gearbox oil.

And pray it will start tomorrow morning. I have been fiddling with the cold start, and it is starting ok at ~15° water temp, which has been the lowest i have seen so far, might just have to park it in the sun before starting

Yeah been doing quite a bit of reading, no matter what i did i couldn't get it to start on sequential injection, only on batch, having to use VE around 100 to get it to crank at the low temps, but hey, if it works.

How much does it cost for you to have your own timing set up. I hear the non timed days are cheaper but not sure how much the timing gear costs.

Hi guys, sorry, work's been mental busy the last few days - only doing a 3 day week is killing me. Yeah i need to help out with the kids at home tonight before moving, so won't get away till about 8/8:15. Getting Mick on the way through and aiming for 9pm at Brooks Rd, but if Greg was here he'd remind everybody that means it's usually a bit after that.

What's everybody else's movements? I know Roundy will be getting to Goulburn around 9pm, so happy if people don't want to wait for me.

Re timing gear, IR beacon setups are good, smartphone apps are good and often free or only a couple of bucks + a decent gps dongle at ~$60. I bought an IR setup and now also run racechrono to be able to compare laps, segments, lines etc.

Remember to charge the gopros and pack the jacket and beanie!

Ninja: Oh and those of you staying, i assume you're all giving me cash for the extra when you see me, given i haven't heard from more than a couple of you about it?

Roundy, i'll msg you the rooms we have booked.
