Leave it shut, and dose it hard.
Hey dudes,
I've got a GReddy Type RS bov and its not opening. It's been on the car for not even 2 months. Has never really worked well.
At first I thought it was that I wasn't getting enough vacuum but today I took it off the car and tried opening it with my fingers, it was pretty stuck. It seemed to be sticking around where the piston seals.
My question is, has anyone had a similar problem and what did they do to fix it? Has anyone had any luck cleaning BOV's?
It just sucks because this BOV is basically brand new and was pretty expensive.
PS. This isn't one of the cheap eBay knock-offs.

Lol well yeah I have been, and it pulls heaps of bitches but I don't want to be damaging the turbo and also I would like it if the $300 I spent on the BOV wasn't a waste.

Ive been running my corolla with no bov for a year and the turbo seems fine,
The problem, when you first bolt the valve on to the pipe, especially if its wound tight, the sudden amount of force on the spring causes the screw top to jam against the threads. This only happens with cheap valves, with your original GReddy, dunno?
How new is "basically brand new" and where did you buy it? if its binding up i would send it back for warranty?
You could call Greddy aus and see if they will swap it out for you, +61 2 8764 1234
Ok, so this issue is now solved
Took the BOV apart at work today and found oil on the seal where the piston sits in closed position. This was creating a very tight seal and was making it very hard for the piston to get off the seat to vent. Cleaned the oil off the seal and voila, sweet, sweet PSHHHHHH.
Had the BOV on there since I rebuilt the motor and the excessive blow by from the new rings must have been the contributing factor to getting all that oil on there.
