you should be perfect for the job then. You should ask Rodger about the suitability of solex carbs with forced induction, but if jetted right im pretty sure they are up to the task. You will need to make up a box which bolts onto the end of the carbies where the air cleaner goes, and make up some pipes that lead from the box to the outlet of the SC. Then you need to make up some pipes from the intake of the SC, and go either into a well placed pod filter, or a cold air box. Cold air box with panel filter would be the best option, but might not be viable with space considerations. Everything needs to be air tight.

Try a japanese motor place, somewhere that does engine conversions to toyotas etc etc. I believe these are most commonly from the 4AGZE found in the supercharged AW11 MR2.

Also for better effect you could try tracking down an 18RGEU efi set, and fit that.

Hahaha, yea you should be more than able, supercharging is all plumbing!
Bascially it jsut needs to blow air into ur airbox, make a nice little compression zone, so if u got a factory air cleaner setup, with the enclosed carbys, ull be sweet, but ull need to strengthen it, and seal it real well.

easier just to make a new one. With only a few PSI of pressure polypipe should work (not wastewater pipe, gotta get the thick stuff)... it lasts ages in spud guns, so i cant see why it wouldnt work with an 18RGZ using and SC12. Welded aluminium is the go though.

mmmmm guys i thought about it and i dont really want to go through the headache of all this work. im sure it would be good fun and a great reference and comparison to the witzl when he turbo charges his RG.

but all i want it a bit of power from a N/A 18RG

    can i get lumpier cams???
    adjustable cam gears??

probly going to keep bottom end stock but give it a freshen up, i think its a 18RGU so im guessing it has 8:7:1 pistons.

and as for 200+ HP im not going to need it as it will be coming off the road next year for either a rotary or 1JZ conversion

so what will i need to get this baby on the road, i dont want to spend a fortune but im willing to buy a decent gear.

ohh yea and where and i get everything from, ive already got a VRS kit that my cousin orderd it suits the 18RG.

thanks guys glad u like the avatar but eyes off

she probly looks familiar to NSW people as she modeled on my mates GTI in the autosalon

Forget doing it twice then, just stick out what you have, and put the money you would have spent on an 18RG toward either the rota or the 1JZ

How do i book ya missus for when i get my 23 finished??

Get early model cams(factory adjustable), 9.7:1 pistons (they will fit in perfectly), and early model carbs. You already have the 270 head which is the final part of the uber factory-esque 18RG.

Classic, i meant for a photo shoot for magazines... put her talents to good use. Gives you a good excuse to come to qld for a holiday too

Back to being OT... cant the RG just go back in without a rebuild?? Or what if you just give it the quickest of refreshes to keep you going for a while... a quick refresh on an RG should last 5-10 years... so theres no problems there if you take extra time sorting out your conversion.

For the record I personally disagree with your option of the non-Toyota wankler engine... but hey its your doom... oops i mean your car

photo shoot, i dont see why thats if im still with her in the next 5 yrs lol

freshen up rebuild same thing to me. all i know is that it was overheating like shit on tuesday night and i looked under oil cap and it was milky white = head.

all i want is for it to be back on the road but some lumpier cams, adjustable cam gear wont hurt.

as for the wankel engine i dont think it would happen unless i have 100K and want to run high 7s low 8s lol

i think i would opt for either the 1G or 1JZ to get me running into the 10's and a nice car for the weekends,

so what do i need to get this freshen up happening i cant stand public transport

    thanks owen

    typo, u put a "L" in wanker...

I dont think a 10sec car makes a good driver at all, and thats from driving a 12sec gemini turbo, fuckn shocker.

I would agree with the statement of a 10sec car not being a good driver... unless of course you go an uber beams sequential turbo technical masterpeice. But your not allowed to do that until after ive done it

It all depends on if you have cracked your head, or blown a head gasket as to what is involved in the rebuild. If you have just blown the head gasket, get the head faced (no more than necessary, your chain will go sloppy), put new timing chains in for the sake of it, hone the bores, linish the crank, new bearings, rings, gasket and seal kit (if you already have the VRS kit coming, an 18RC bottom end kit will sort the rest out), check the valve clearances, wash the block with hot soapy water, and rinse with boiling water... better still, get it acid bathed before honing, dont forget to replace the auxilliary shaft bearings too. Wash the head with kero before and after the head shave. Facing the flywheel and decking the block are other good options at this stage. New water pump, thermostat etc are also good, and check the wear in the oil pump, could be a requirement to replace also.

quite possible to do most of this yourself. Adjustable cam gears and lumpy cams wont do much without putting in 9.7:1 pistons.
