    Default 5m 5spd to 4m engine??

    Hey all,

I've got a 79' Cressida wagon and do lots of trips between Port Mac and Central Coast, nsw. Like 10000kms in the last two months.......

So I'm wondering if I can lower my freeway revs with a 5spd from the mx63 cressy (did the cressy offer a 5spd.)or the supra?

Is it a straight bolt on..?? Or requires some fidgeting??

    Much appreciated toyo-gods..

Stuff, I'm on holiday at the moment.....will check when I get back...cheers for that mate!

What about the 5spd from the 7mge? Bolt up? Worth it any more than the 5M??

    Much appreciated.

the later boxes are W55,57,58 and have a different bell housing to the one im assuming you have. So you will have to find the right bell housing to suit,

Im not 100% but I think the box length and output shafts are different meaning tail shaft mods.

Its also been years since I've seen a W50 and W55,7,8 sitting side by side so I can't tell you if the box will bolt straight in.

The W50 is a direct replacement for the W40. with the massive power your 4M has the W50 will be fine.

The W58 has the tallest 5th gear.

If you decide to go that route I have a M to W55,7,8 bell housing.

    Hahaha massive power indeed mate!

Cheers for the feedback, much appreciated. So you have a bell housing sitting around that'll work? Or you've got a few you sell? Either way, how much?

DO your own research with the numbers I have provided. If you have a W40 a W50 will be a straight swap,

if you want to go to the hassle of the later model box and the issues with that I have a M to W55,7,8 bell housing here $50

If the Cressie is already manual then the W50 and W55-58 will bolt straight up.If you decide to use the W50 then all that is needed is the box and use the bellhousing from the Cressie. If you use the W55-58 then you will need the said bellhousing that Luke is offering you.As to tailshaft it will bolt straight up with no mods. Its the MX62 Cressies that need to have the tailshaft modded.
    Cheers Brett.
