My MX83 is not shifting, bought this car not complete. Which speed sensor and where is it located, is suppose to go back to the ECU?

its prob a manual ecu ,
if its an auto ecu what style plugs does it have,
really early 1js I think jzx80 81 not sure as I havnt wired one in ages you had to make sure speed signals where right otherwise it would stay in first

did you buy the car knowing this problem was there or was it working ok and now it has failed as most 1js have the output shaft speedo sensor SP2+ SP2- already hooked up
in the original wiring and this wiring does not need to be hooked up so either wiring is wrong or speed sensor is faulty

I been told it is an Auto ECU, the sticker on it has A/T which I am guessing stands for Automatic Transmission. Your right it stays in first and from what I can trace on the ECU the wires are not attached. The wires that come from the speed sensors just go into a harness. Was going to try and just run the signal wire from one of the speed sensors to the ECU. Its a 3 pin roundish plug from the ECU. From what I have read the speed sensor closest to the Speedo drive sensor is SS 2. Speedo doesn't work either haven't figured that out yet. The ECU has 2 wires that have been run out of it which should be for the speed sensors. The car wasn't a goer when we got it but got an running engine with it, which has been fitted. The engine runs fine just won't change gears.

    Ok

Sp2 is two wire sensor and goes to plastic out shaft sensor near rear of gbox
This should be connected already but must have issues
    What ecu is it

Hook the three pin speedo sensor to the dash. Yellow wire is sig
Then there will be a return wire from dash to ecu and this goes to pin spd
