Default Choosing springs and shocks for my rt142.

    Hi guys

I'm looking for springs and shocks for my Corona and have no real idea what I'm looking for. I want it to sit low and be stiff enough to have some fun and maybe go out for the occasional track day, although, i still want it to be comfortable enough for a daily(I can deal with a bit of roughness if it will make a big difference to handling).
I'm trying to stay away from coil-overs in the front because i think they will be to stiff and the price tag is scary!
I've talk to the guys at AJPS a little and they have suggested 5kg spring rates all round but i think this sounds to light. A'm i wrong?
    Any advice would be great!!

    Cheers Brad.

i had 6kg front and cut falcons on rear with shorter stroke kyb excel g shocks and i found for a budget set up it was great to drive, handled well and still not super rough or bouncy (even on our awesome qld roads), rear could have been a touch harder, i had hsd coil over sleeves in the front with shorter sw20 rear shocks, if your handy with a welder they are pretty straight forward to make using the sleeve kit and not as pricey as a full kit. depends what you want to do with it and what sort of budged you have

okay cool so what sort of spring rate do you think the falcon springs would have been? is it good to have the same spring rate all round or should i have stiffer spring in the front?
I'm on a relatively tight budget but I'm willing to spend some money for a good tidy end result.

no idea to be honest, i read something a while ago that maybe 3kg, no idea, someone else might be able to help.
same spring rates all round, not sure how that would go, bit more inclined to oversteer maybe? again someone else might chime in , reading stuff on hear and elsewhere everyone seems to think 8 front and 6 rear is a good starting point and then you see how you like it and go from there, but if your budget is limited you may not be able to get shocks that will handle thoes spring rates real well, but so you might have to go softer, 5 front and cut falcon rear, just make sure if you drop the height too much you check the spring stays captive on full droop, if it dosent you will need shorter shocks, if you rt142 has irs i have a set of shorter shocks for the rear for sale, send us a pm
