We stopped on the way back to look at the cars at the other meet and happen to see the burnouts etc and the aftermath of the crash. Typical bogan crowd that you never want to go cruising with.

In what seems to be a CCAD tradition (and the opposite of the Toyotafest tradition of late) the weather was almost spot-on perfect. Despite that, the gloomy start to the day probably dissuaded more than a few Classic owners and numbers were down on previous years (and for once we over-catered ). Fears of being mobbed/caught-up in the Anzac cruise turned out to be unfounded, and if anything our seclusion from the action was a blessing in disguise with all the drama that unfolded.

Didn't take anywhere near as many photos compared to previous years (was manning the BBQ, till and gate for most of the day), but did get out for a small burst later in the afternoon when the sun had calmed down a bit

I personally have learned a lesson by doing burnouts where people post them up .Yep i was dumb. Why would anyone do a burnout where there is 500 phone cameras pointing at you . Recipe for problems.Let alone with people standing around with no protection like a shell .

1 in 10 cars have dash cams which will record people giving it a hit .

I seen something at Wisemans that i thought was great. It was the Toyota club. They paid to have a section right down the bottom in the park . They had a BBQ set up and all their cars were lined up .
I watched them all cruise in and not 1 revved or made a statement by breaking traction .
They all stood around, ate socialized and not 1 piece of grass they parked on was destroyed .
They had families with them and looked to be having a great time .

You would not see this unless you went out with a select group.

Thanks I have met some genuine nice guys in the rotor community but.....

This is my Q to get out of Rotors.
Thanks to everyone who came along for making our club stand out in a positive way!

I think you'll find it's my calm, mature attitude and influence is seeping into the club

But all jokes aside, it's great kudos to the club and all those that attended the cruise.

Thank you to all those that came along.

And it wouldn't suprise me, if those idiots have given that really nice area a bad name. Why don't they just leave it for La Perouse, or better still, come out to the creek.

Hey Jason, would have been good to put a face to the name, perhaps next time!

It was a great day, I got too see some Celicas I hadn't seen before and got to have a good chat to people.

I did walk up to the other spot where all the shenanigans were taking place. There were a lot of hotted up common boring cars but there were a few nice rides among them: Quite a few nice old rotors, a Charger, Camaro, a couple of Mustangs, there was also about a dozen AC Cobra replicas parked together behind the bowling club. Overall, that whole area did seemed a bit out of control with quite a few young children around amongst the rest of the bogans...

A big thank you to all the organisers for another wonderful day. Always enjoyable and not to be missed..........we haven't missed the last five!
It's a shame that there is nothing left of Amaroo Park,Oran Park or Silverdale hill climb as a cruise to them would be a good day out. Showing my age now

    John,

Back in 2008 Toymods did a lost race track cruise which ended up at Catalina Park raceway. It was a great day out. We tried it again in 2012 but didn't get anyone but a few board members turn up. Be keen to do it again tho.

    Thanks Toyman 75,
Parramatta Park and Catalina Park bring back some memories and a little bit of history with a "first series" Celica. My late father was the secretary of the Australian Sporting Car Club (ASCC,the pre decesor to the ARDC)from 1938 to 1951, there was a break in activities in the war years. ASCC conducted many events at Parramatta Park and I remember fondly him recounting many stories about this and other tracks; Gnoo Blas, Bathurst, Waterfall and Mona Vale hillclimbs, Mt Druitt, night rallies all over NSW, Sprints at Gerringong Beach, Albatross (Nowra) Airstrip, Wilton Airstrip. After the ASCC he joined Redex and actually set, surveyed and was the race director of all three around Australia reliability trials My mother still has the many boxes of photos from these days. Now the Celica history.........mum took charge of a pristine 1971 flat light automatic one owner LT in early 1972 with a mere 3,500 miles on the clock in a very unusual sandstone/beige colour. As a wide eyed 13 year old I thought this was "just the goods" Within months the old man had a nice set of wide Delta's fitted complete with Kleber V10 tyres, a chrome luggage rack and an Aunger rear shade fitted.
Remember going up to the first Catalina Rallycross event in it for the weekend and can recall the throaty roar of the twin cam Escorts and some quick KE10's and KE11's.
He loved driving the Celica and remember him often quoting that it "wasn't worth a stamp under 3500 rpm" and "bloody thing handles so well does it ever let go" Both of these often quoted up and down the road from Jindabyne to Thredbo or Perisher.
Anyway i did a lot of under age driving in that great car and actually obtained the licence in it on the 17th birthday!!
Fast forward to May 1993 ,the year that my son "Nickp28" was born and mum decided to give driving away. With the benefit of hindsight the LT was unwisely sold with a staggering 53,000 miles on the clock still in pristine condition with only a minor blemish on the front guard. Pretty silly when we reflect upon that decision but I guess we had no idea that the blue RA28 would come into our lives quite by chance when Nickp28 was 16. He is now 21! That however is another memorable story for another time.
Another idea for a winter short cruise .........Macquarie Pass/Jamberoo mountain and the Southern Highlands.
