i would suggest the alternator be rated at 60 to 70 amps ballpark
why do you ask?
Hi Guys,
I have an AE92 GTI Late model. I have had a look with a mirror and flash light but can't seem to be able to tell. It has a Denso toyota alternator on it. The tech book says depends on what is on it but 60, 75 or 80. They are big numbers for a small car alternator.
So, what size do you think it would be?
Thanks

I will be wiring up some super osca spot lights. thanks for the reply
TY
I assume you have looked for any numbers on the alternator itself.
If the car was fitted with power windows and all the normal luxury power accessories it should be the larger output of the versions.
bloody oscars on a corolla, god i have them on my patrol with 130/90 globes and 24 volt!Originally Posted by 92-GTI
hahahaha prob need stiffer front springs!lol i take it you live in the sticks? your rolla should be 65 amper
Yeah they are big.
They from the days when i had a RX2 rally car. I am setting them up on a bar so they can come on and off as one unit. I only plan to put them on when i go away for holidays. I'd look silly driving around the city with oscas on it.
lol it sure would! but would be rally stylei have two sets of oscars, been meaning to mount the other set just above the windscreen. lol i already get 3/4 of a km lit up and 20-30metres each side of the road!
I have them there so i may aswell wire them up (for holiday driving anyway). I would prefer small, neater ones but hey i have these. If i were to sell them these days i wouldn't get enough to buy smaller ones, or as good.
they work well and will make the country drives sensational at night. just put a relay in and it will be fine.
