you can take off the weights and either make up a plate to lock the posts the weights acted on...
or... take off the weights and tack weld the bits together.
how to locked a distributor? after i take out the distributor cap, i can see rotor, VR sensor
the VR sensor is mounted on a vacuum advance plate.
next, i take off the vacuum advance plate, i can see some springs n weights under neath.
ok.. now, how can i locked a distributor in order to get a fixed ignition? i'm going to run a single coil ignition control from Megasquirt II.

which part i should tack weld it?
well.. to start.. do that.. and then you will see that the top and bottom shafts are free to wobble around. you need something there to stop ANY movement.
perhaps you could use two strong springs to hold it in place, but making a plate or welding is just as easy.

ok.. i'll try to snap some photos n post here.. see whether i got it right or not..
Weld it into place it is easy, Just do it at the base of the shaft, I have done thsi and Is not difficult
I'm ashamed to admit this, but my method involved a drill, some random screws and a tube of araldite. It worked fine but I don't know how long it's going to last. I recommend welding also if you can do it that way!

If welding make sure you have earth clamp direct to shaft as welding current not too good on bearings/bushes etc.
