    Default R series gearbox questions.... r151f (4wd) to r151 (2wd)

i have a surf with a 1uz installed and adapted to the r151f gearbox and i plan to remove engine and install into my mx73. so can i remove the rear housing on the current gearbox, which is set up to bolt onto a transfer case, and attach a 2wd rear housing to save me buying another gearbox? or is it not as easy as that? i have been trying to search but haven't come up with anything yet, and since the toyody diagrams are gone its making it harder....

im not 100% but i beleave that you will need more than just the rear housing dude to the output shaft lengths being differnt.
easyest way would be to get a R154 2wd box and sell yours.

maybe a broken R154 with your gearset in it? again im not to sure as ive never done this just quessing from ruffly looking at pictures of the two

yeah i would have imagined that was the case but just thought i would ask in case anyone had had the 2 types apart and knew if there was a difference, might even call a few gearbox shops, might be able to buy the parts, or yes probably easier to just sell it and buy a dedicated 2wd box, 2wd r150 and r151's from late model hilux's can be had on ebay for 500-600 bucks so might look into one of them if the input shaft is the same splines and length
