    Default Rev3 1G-GTE and Apexi SAFC-II

    Anyone here run this setup????

My SAFC-II seems to be reading half the revs it should, and I have gone through the setup a couple of times and all seems correct... anyone else had this??

I can correct the rev reading by setting it to three cylinder mode, but (maybe I'm imagining it) the car doesn't seem to run as well, (I know the 1UZ engines need to be set to 4 cyl mode to work properly)

I just want to at least get it all monitoring and working properly before I get it properly set up on a live road map!

    Any suggestions??

maybe you have connected the rpm wire to the wrong spot

is the rpm wire on the ig- wire that comes from ignitor

maybe you hooked it to the crank angle sensor which might be half the pulses u need

Nope, All wired in correctly as per the manual (although there are two RPM signals on the ECU, it does not specify which one to use) I assumed it was because the pistons fire in pairs.. Therefore reading as a three cylinder... (there is no aditional note to say run it as anything other then 6 syl)

I was hoping someone who has actually run this setup on a rev 3 1G could help shed some light!

I have installed a couple of these before on other cars and never had a problem!

sideshow is correct, I'm guessing you have it wired up incorrectly. There is nothing special about the tacho wire for the ECU, check it again, it's usually black with brown bands.

Ok cheers guys.. I'll recheck it.... While I'm at it I think I'll swap the AVC-R from reading the injector duty back to revs for ease of setup....

SAFC-2 is fine for my needs, I don't have huge power apirations as the car is a cruiser....

I'd be suprised if its wired in wrong to be honest as I have never had any problems before, its just this is my first 1G one, but its always worth rechecking

Does anyone know why they show two different RPM feeds to the ECU, and if they are the same signal? Just out of curiosity..

For the sake of the search engine, I got around to looking at it last night (slow I know lol) It WAS wired correctly as per the wiring diagram to RPM1, I re wired it to RPM2 and it read correctly. So if anyone is wondering which of the two RPM pins to use on the Apexi wiring diagram, its No. 2.

I just saw this now karma...we had the same problem with my 2JZGTE when we installed the SAFC II, we used RPM signal 1 and it was reading about 1/4 of the revs...so we changed it to RPM signal 2 and it worked 100% fine

Just saw this thread. I guess I'll be getting Mos to swap that wire on my AVC-R tonight

It had exactly the same problem but works perfectly set to 3cyl mode so I hadn't been concerned about it. Thanks

i have the same problem on the neo in my 1g
i just leave it set on 3cylinder mode and i dont have a problem, i was concerned about this at first. but i read somewhere that on toyotas with the apexi piggy back stuff.. the rpm will read at a weird rpm if set up correctly, so u have to set them to have half the amount of cylinders, thats why the 1uz is meant to be set up with 4cylinders
