I found that www.lextreme.com had a lot of useful info when it came to UZ mods.
Hi new to the forum here, I've joined specifically for some 2uz and 1uz information. I have tried searching on multiple forums but with little luck.
I don't know how common the 2uz engine is in other parts of the world, but to keep my mind at ease I need the following information.
How much bigger is the combustion chamber on the 2uz compared to the 1uz?
Given the 2uz cylinder bore being 94mm and the 1uz being 87.5mm, there are people out there who swap the 1uz head onto the 2uz iron block. I want to do the opposite.
Any information will help.
Thanks, Will

I have been lurking around that forum for quite some time. I decided to actually join that forum a few days ago, yet I can not post anything or reply to anything on the forum. If i can't do that, the forum is useless to me.
You can't put the 2uz heads on the 1uz block unless you increase the bore and aftermarket sleeves. If you are after the flow of the 2uz heads with the strength of the 1uz bottom end, aftermarket will be simplest.
In reality it's just the rods you need and may as well go aftermarket as most of the cost will be in 'rebuilding' labour rather than parts.
Edited for simplicity

I would not be able to swap the 2uz pistons over. Unless I find sleeves that'll work with the 95mm pistons. I know rods are interchangable and the crank had a hair longer stroke, but pistons is what worries me.
What are you trying to do? Which engine into which car?

I'm building a tube chassis exo skeleton car. I want to keep it light but not too light. It'll be mid engine. I ultimately want the 1uz non vvti engine but want the 2uz non vvti heads on it. You never explained why the heads won't work on the 1uz block.
Neither gasket will work as the chamber dia is too large. You either don't clamp the fire ring or there's not enough sleeve to clamp. A copper gasket might work but I doubt it.
If staying na just use a VVTi?

I'm going twin turbo. It might be too much for that light of a chassis but we will see. How much porting would I have to do to get the head to breathe as well as a vvti head?
Heaps. The flow chart comparison used to be on V-eight.com. The VVTi heads are light years ahead.
If going TT though who cares. A completely stock non VVTi will make 300rwkw all day every day, which is more than a light car can ever use.
There's a pair of VVT heads only for sale on here going pretty cheap. I can sort you out with a set of locked VVTi cams![]()
