    Default LN106 with 22R

    I am restoring a 1988 LN106 Hilux with a 22R motor and 16inch' wheels.
At 100kph motor is revving at 3000rpm.
Can I drop wheel size to 15inch? If so with what result?

If you put the appropriately larger profile tyres on it, which also need to be commercial (LT) rated.

If you don't the speedo will be out and thus not legal. The engine will also be revving higher - more rotations of the wheel to achieve the same speed.
    meh...

Thank you. As you may guess I don't know a lot but am having fun restoring Hilux.

About the only way to reduce your engine stress at high speed would be to change out the 4.3 Diff and replace it with a 4.1.

But that will restrict you putting larger wheels on your rig.
